Send to Phone F.A.Q.
You can send any questions or comments you have to support@Entertonement.com. You can also leave feedback, ask for help or suggest new features at our User Voice page.
A: You can send any sound bites to your phone that either you have uploaded or that have been been uploaded by and Entertonement.com site editor. Site editor content is generally stuff in the public domain like political speeches or random sound effects. The Barack Obama collection is a good example of sound bites that our editors upload.
A: We currently send sound bites to phone using MMS (sometimes called Pix/Picture/Media messages depending on your carrier) in MP3 format, so our site works best with phones that can receive MMS messages and play MP3's.

Because we do not have test phones for all these carriers, we had to make educated guesses in some spots, so some carriers will have multiple listing and some of the carriers may not work. If you are having trouble, try sending Toy Bell to your phone. It is rather short and arrives fairly quickly and reliably on phones that work with our site. If your carrier is not in the list or if none of the options for you carrier work, don't hesitate to send us an email support@Entertonement.com or leave feedback at our User Voice page.
A: This is because we do not have test phones for all the carriers that we want to support. Often times we will end up having to make an educated guess at how to send the files, and because we are not always 100% sure, we wanted to put all the known possibilities up there so that you will have a better shot at getting your ringtone. If your carrier is one of those that has multiple listing we would love it if you would let us know which ones worked and didn't work so that we could correct and simplify our list. You can let us know via email at support@Entertonement.com or by leaving feedback at our User Voice page.
A: The two most likely reasons for this are 1: The sound bite size exceeds the carrier's message size limit. 2: The carrier that you have selected cannot find your phone number in their database If you are having trouble receiving messages from us, try sending Toy Bell. This sound bite works well because it should be well under the size limit for all carriers, and because it is so small it should arrive fairly quickly. One thing to keep in mind is that depending on the time of day, the size of the sound bite, and the carriers network, it might take a while for your ringtone to get to you. It has even happened a few times that a message takes more than a day to arrive. However, if you are unable to receive this sound bite, then it is most likely that either you have not selected the correct carrier, or that we are not sending the file properly to that carrier. Please let us know either via email at support@Entertonement.com or by leaving feedback at our User Voice page so that we can try and fix it for you.
A: This could be because your phone or carrier does not allow MMS messaging. However, for some carriers we are testing out multiple ways to send, so in the carrier name list you might see something like
- "Carrier Name"
- "Carrier Name 2"
- "Carrier Name 3"
Hopefully at least one of these will successfully send the sound bite to your phone where as the other two may just send a text message with the sound bite's name or not send anything at all. This is mostly because we don't have test phones with all the carriers so we have to make educated guesses and sometimes we are right and sometimes we are not. If your carrier is one of those that has multiple listing we would love it if you would let us know which ones worked and didn't work so that we could correct and simplify our list. You can let us know via email at support@Entertonement.com or by leaving feedback at our User Voice page. In the future we plan to allow users to send links to the sound bites in SMS/text messages so that, if your phone can access the web, you will be able to follow the links and download the sound bite that way.
A: The speed of the message can be affected by the time of day, load on your carrier's network and size of the file. Toy Bell is pretty a pretty good sound bite for testing because it is rather small and will usually arrive fairly quickly.
A: All the carriers have varying size limits on their MMS messages, so it is possible that the sound bite you are having trouble with is too big. Also, sometimes carriers will delay the sending of larger sound bites, even if the sound bite is under the size limit. It has happened in the past where we didn't receive one of our test messages for a day or two. Toy Bell is pretty a pretty good sound bite for testing because it is rather small and will usually arrive fairly quickly.
A: This varies widely based on phone model, software version and carrier. I can tell you how to do it on my phone (LG VX8700)... but other than that it gets a little fuzzy, because we don't have a lot of test phones. However, feel free to email us support@Entertonement.com, and we can work with you to try and figure it out. Generally this stuff is well covered in your phone's instruction manual, so you can try looking for sections like "How to save MMS/Pix/Picture/Media message attachments" and "How to set saved sounds as ringtones." If you don't know where you instruction book is, I have found that you can usually find it online, either at your carrier's website, your phone's manufacturer's website, or just by googling around for your phone's model number and the word "manual." And if you don't know your phones model number, you can try looking on, around or under your phone's battery.
A: I have verified that the site will send sound bites successfully to Storms on Verizon and Pearls on T-Mobile. Some carriers like Verizon have options listed for both "Verizon" and "Verizon (Blackberry)." I would suggest trying the regular "Verizon" option first and then trying the Blackberry one after that. I would also suggest trying to send a short sound bite like Toy Bell because shorter sound bites tend to arrive faster and more reliably. When using the "Carrier Name (Blackberry)" option, you will need to have your blackberry set up with your username@carrier.blackberry.net email account.
Examples
- Verizon: username@vzw.blackberry.net
- ATT: username@att.blackberry.net
- T-Mobile: username@tmo.blackberry.net
And when using these options, you will want to enter the username of that account rather than your phone number. In the future we plan to allow users to send links to the sound bites in SMS/text messages so that, if your phone can access the web, you will be able to follow the links and download the sound bites that way. This will allow older Blackberries and Blackberries that do not support/allow MMS messages to receive sound bites
A: Currently iPhone does not support the sending/receiving of MMS messages, so you currently cannot sent our sound bites to iPhones. However, the next iPhone firmware update (Version 3.0) is said to support MMS messages, and in the mean time you should be able to browse our site with an iPhone and listen to our sound bites on it. In the future we plan to allow users to send links to the sound bites in SMS/text messages so that, you will also be able to listen to sound bites that way.
A: It really depends on the carrier, because each carrier sets its own limits on file sizes. In the future we plan to allow users to send links to the sound bites so that, if your phone can access the web, you will be able to follow the link and download the sound bites that way. This will allow you to download bigger sound bites, as well as let you download sound bites if your carrier blocks MMS messages.
