More »This surprising, indeed rather sudden, phenomenon -- the rise of Authenticity (being true to One's Self), with its concomitants of Truth, Love, Nonviolence, Peace, and Nobleness of Purpose -- may be the single most powerful blessing, if it remains strong, to aid our country and world in facing the most difficult times of all Time. TV likes to point out Obama's challenges, and adds the comment that it is unlikely that one person could be so successful against so much. If that "sucks" to you (and indicates you are young and not willing to settle for such a ripoff of your future; and by the way, don't), then consider that it gets worse: For there is no talk, airtime, Obama-time, or American-dough going toward the issue that is the most difficult faced by our planet in its billions of years of history -- the prevention of the loss of over eight billion human and multi trillion non-human lives on this planet, not even counting the flora -- all of which are likely to be wiped from this planet anytime in the next fifty years, with the likelihood being in the 20 to 50 year range. Luckily (feels strange using that word with what comes next), the U.S., in fact the world, has had the greatest object lesson on the results of being inauthentic, on the grandest scale and with the clearest possible results. After eight solid years of a Bush-Cheney-Rove administration which has exemplified on a daily basis and the world stage all the values opposite of Authenticity; and over time with such ineptness in covering it up, so no one could have any doubt, and perhaps the most important part, displayed to the world the association between being fake, lying, and all the rest and the consequences that naturally come of them, sooner or later: disaster, loss, ridicule, collapse, tragedy, and so on. Imagine the pent up energy of billions of people worldwide watching America's President and inside saying, "No! you idiot! That's just the opposite of what needs to be done (said, etc.) now. I wish I could do something!!" Now combine the perfect example of phoniness and its results, with the feelings of billions, with pent up frustrations wishing for every wrong they could have had the power to choose the correct thing. Now add the final ingredient, the coup de grace: the most magical Presidential run in my lifetime. Check it out: A Black man, a Democrat, naturally and obviously authentic, lacking pretensions, hidden agendas, intelligent instead of gun-toting or being a C-student, a man not born of wealth, and one who raised far more money than Republicans (for the first time) by not accepting the money of special interests but only the checks of individual Americans. Now that' s the biggest fairy tale I've ever heard, I can hear someone say. Yea, sure sounds that way, but add that it was true and that he won. The hope I see for our planet is that of the people of this world having had this intensive into the results of authenticity versus inauthenticity -- each making its point in such a grand fashion that many will be inspired by the Template provided by Obama, for one, and that many more will also be so fed up, tired, and shriveling up in dire paucity of the real and true that they will not for a long time be able to think of any other contrary value than the real and authentic. Though planetary futures are not selling right now, still, if the trends above were to continue, grow stronger, spread, and combine the energies of billions, could, mind you, be the main, if not sole thing, that would stave off global-wide extinction of all species in our lifetime, and most likely even planetary annihilation of the too-horrible-to-speak, let alone imagine, type that would have Our Earth -- the one many are still imagining having grandchildren living and playing on -- by that time instead being more like another Mars, and obviously with no life at all. This is perhaps the most unheard and uncommon solution you have ever heard to the imminent environmental collap « Less

More »"If (this craving for the real) were to continue, grow stronger, spread, and combine the energies of billions, (it) could, mind you, be the main, if not sole thing, that would stave off global-wide extinction of all species in our lifetime, and most likely even planetary annihilation of the too-horrible-to-speak, let alone imagine, type that would have Our Earth -- the one many are still imagining having grandchildren living and playing on -- by that time instead being more like another Mars, and obviously with no life at all. This is perhaps the most unheard and uncommon solution you have ever heard to the imminent environmental collapse. With all others having failed for lack of the authenticity that requires looking at the real problems, and dealing with them, not running away, and doing it with all one's talent, and with the conviction of a soldier, ready to put one's life on the line for the world one will not be part of… well, after putting it that way, how could any previously have succeeded and how could this one, with enough souls aligned, fail... "And that, my friends, is one of the huge benefits of authenticity. For knowing yourself, and being yourself, and polishing your God-given talents in the hopes of using them toward some good end, leaves you still knowing that the ends are blocked from our vision, and that no matter what we feel to be good and to be in keeping with God's will, we could be wrong. Living authentically and thus humbly has taught us that we can be wrong about even the things we felt absolutely sure of. So, never forgetting that one is capable of mistakes, we expect to be continually corrected, in those views, in our interactions and influences from others and from God's unmistakable direction -- even if you just consider the number of things that are beyond your control and you find some paths blocked, others wide open and lined with fragrant Eucalyptus trees and jacarama blooms, and flower petals showing the way (and an angel at the entrance, handing out spending money (lest we go too long without getting fanciful)), And so, with experience we learn, that all corrections are hardly about not getting what we want, but are always, though it might be a long time in understanding, about guiding us toward something beyond what we even imagined. « Less
